Our Story
The concept of the EDI started on the family farm in the picturesque Beaconsfield valley in the Manawatu. While the need for a easier to use iron had long been known, when my Father injured his right hand prior to docking season in 2021 it was out with the drawing board. Four sons should have been solution enough to this, but it was the motivation required to better the product we had long been working with.
There were countless long nights and plenty of pen to paper but a prototype was scraped together ready to be put to the test, just in time for the season. Crude as the first operational version was it was still a success. We knew we were onto something, something that needed to be shared with the wider rural community.
EDI LIMITED was incorporated later that same year.
In 2022 one of the prototypes, (#15) was deployed at Mendip Hills Station in North Canterbury where 15000 lambs were tailed, there were some impressive numbers put through with great ease. A few final features came from the this exposure to larger stock units.
Currently designed and manufactured in a small Garage in Feilding EDI has undergone many transitions and improvements, now in its 21st iteration EDI is ready for the market and we hope that we can help enhance your docking experience.
